I found Effie studying at the Epiphany Library on 23rd Street while I was doing research for a guest appearance on the radio show, Buck Rogers. She grew up on pulp science fiction magazines which she hid from her Mennonite parents. She recommended, 'Brave New World,' but I didn't need to read it since she explained the entire story. She wanted to work in show business and I wanted a secretary who could be paid peanuts. I gave her a job after she graduated from Hunts Point Secretarial.
